National Everyone Matters Day is celebrated on April 2, although the University of Tennessee celebrated on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 to allow for greater student participation before the spring holiday. The Office of Multicultural Student Life partnered with student and staff organizations across campus, including Haslam’s Office of Access and Community Connections, to hand out t-shirts and host special photo booths to emphasize that all students and staff matter and they are part of the University of Tennessee community.

Everyone Matters Day was established by Heathcliff Rothman and has been adopted by cities, schools, businesses, universities and other organizations across the country. It celebrates individuality and promotes awareness that everyone is entitled to be treated with dignity and respect
