Mary Pile joined the Tickle College of Engineering and Haslam College of Business on May 1, 2017 as the Director of the Integrated Business and Engineering Program for both Haslam College of Business and Tickle College of Engineering.
Prior to joining the University of Tennessee, Mary worked in product development and manufacturing for the medical device industry for almost 10 years. Her orthopedic experience includes designing custom joint, trauma, extremity, and spinal implant systems for DePuy Synthes, Del Palma, and DeRoyal. More recently, she moved to a management role at DeRoyal overseeing new product development, complaint handling, and improving manufacturing capabilities for acute care, patient care, and wound care product lines.
Mary’s role at the University of Tennessee is focused on developing the Integrated Business and Engineering Program, specifically creating the curriculum and structure of the program. Ongoing activities associated with maintaining the program consist of teaching courses, identifying and scheduling external presenters, identifying and pairing students with executive mentors, scheduling manufacturing facility visits, coordinating internships, creating marketing materials, and overseeing the student application and selection process.
