Study Abroad Costa Rica
First-Year Experience
January 6 – 13, 2024
This will be a highly experiential study abroad program in which a small group of first-year University of Tennessee, Haslam College of Business students will have the opportunity to visit and interact with a variety of businesses and leaders throughout Costa Rica, where tourism, technology, and agriculture are key economic drivers. Through site visits, lectures, group discussions, and cultural activities, students will learn about contemporary business, government, and economic development issues in Costa Rica while also exploring the “Pura Vida” culture, history, food, and natural environment of this beautiful Central American country. Students will receive an introduction to business in Central America and learn about the role of sustainable development from both a business and environmental standpoint.

Prerequisites: Must be a first-time, first-year Haslam College of Business student
Course: BUAD 299: Special Topics (1 hr.) in Fall II Term / IB 489: Study Abroad
