Dr. Adam Petrie is a Lecturer of Statistics in the Haslam College of Business at the university of Tennessee. He teaches undergraduate level statistics courses such as the introductory class and regression as well as graduate level courses in statistical theory and stochastic processes. He is particularly interested in having students analyze datasets created from interesting personal information, like how many Facebook friends someone has, how many texts someone sends, or what percentage of college students someone thinks they’re smarter than.
Dr. Petrie’s research interest are in multivariate exploratory data analysis, statistical computing, and data streaming. He is an active participant in the Joint Statistical Meetings each year and has most recently published a paper in Statistical Analysis and Data Mining on a graphical and analytical method called the snake for detecting non-homogeneities and clusters in a dataset.
