September 2, 2020

As the fall 2020 semester gets underway, 1,235 first-year students are beginning their college careers at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business. The newcomers include 729 students from Tennessee, 499 from across the U.S. and seven international students. The college also admitted 308 undergraduate students who are transferring from other institutions.

The new undergraduates bring a record of solid academic performance, with an average high school GPA of 3.8, average ACT score of 27.19 and average SAT score of 1228. Of the incoming class, about 35 percent have declared majors in either supply chain management or marketing. Finance, management and business analytics majors make up a total of 37 percent of the class, with the remainder of the students majoring in business exploratory, accounting, economics, human resource management or public administration. All transfer students are initially admitted as business exploratory majors.

“We are excited to welcome the class of 2024 to the Volunteer family,” said Brian Francis, assistant director of undergraduate programs for the college. “This year will certainly be unique, and we look forward to getting to know and work with them as they begin the next leg of their personal, professional and academic development.”
