James Myers is the Jan R. Williams Endowed Chair in Accounting Excellence. He teaches advanced financial accounting to undergraduates and a seminar in capital markets to PhD students. His research primarily examines issues related to firm valuation, analysts’ forecasts, earnings management and auditing. He has published research in The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Finance, Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Accounting Auditing and Finance, and Journal of Accounting and Public Policy. His research has won the Financial Executives Research Foundation’s Outstanding Accounting Review Article of the Year award (2004), the American Accounting Association Financial Accounting Reporting Section Best Paper Prize (2009). and the Notable Contribution to the Auditing Literature Award (2014). He currently serves on the editorial review board for Accounting Horizons, Contemporary Accounting Research and The Accounting Review. Dr. Myers Received his BSBA in accounting from the University of Arizona and his Ph.D from the University of Michigan. Before joining the faculty at the University of Tennessee he was the Ralph. L. McQueen Professor of Accounting at the University of Arkansas.
